Most of the time, you just move forward and back, interact with something, and either succeed or fail. These all seem like daunting tasks, so the side-scroller aspect of the game makes things a little bit easier to handle. The game has you hunting for food every day, scouting new temporary shelters, guiding your kits, and avoiding various dangers as you try to track down your missing child. Unfortunately, you must also still care for and protect your other growing kits. When one of them gets kidnapped from your home, you are forced to track him down while surviving the rapid decline of the forests and rivers. Yea, and badgers are your bros.In Endling - Extinction is Forever, you play as the last mother fox on Earth who currently has four young kits in need of food, shelter, and life training.
So the message of the game is to stay strong, be kind to the animals and not let the mad axeman kill you for the said kindness and for your sniper rifle. They can make a sequel about other animal species trying to survive, but they will not tell anything new through it, so no point (but can actually do Endling 2, 3 and so on to repeat the same message, why not, but to be honest foxies are the best choice for the species extinction theme, and the only animal i can see for sequel are dolphins with option to befriend octopus, but will be not as fun and cute as foxy). And no Endling 2 is possible, because this game is not maden to make you feel good about saving foxies - it maden to make you feel bad about billions of animals being murdered for human greed, so this is exact the thing you paid for. I don't think any other endings are possible in this kind of game, only this one and some ways to slightly improve it by saving all foxies and finding them a foster mother (could be more to be honest, like teaching babies all the skills, befriending humans and other stuff could improve ending as well but we got what we got and all humans who was kind to us are dead as well).Īnd since the game is strictly about the message of mass extinction and is absolutely story focused - there is no reward at the end like "congratulations dude, you saved 4 baby foxies which are exactly enough to restore the fox population, and since you collected all the collectibles your foxmom will not die as well, get cookie!".
